SCOTLAND duo Scott McTominay and Billy Gilmour’s Serie A title dream is one step closer to becoming a reality after a dramatic night of action.

Their Napoli side could only manage a goalless draw away to Parma after the decision to award them a late penalty was overturned.

It was no less manic in Milan where title rivals Inter thought they had snatched a late winner against Lazio– only for it to be ruled out for offside.

And after two draws it means Napoli remain a point clear of their rivals with just ONE game still to play.

Antonio Conte‘s men round off their fixtures at home to Cagliari, while Inter travel to take on Como.

The teams could yet finish the season locked together on the same points tally.

And if that happens it would mean a PLAYOFF rather than goal difference to decide the destination of the championship.

Napoli went into this weekend with just a narrow one-point lead after only drawing with Genoa in their previous game.

McTominay and Gilmour both started as they looked to land a win away to a Parma side still battling against relegation.

They also needed a favour from Lazio who could help deliver the Scudetto to Naples by beating Inter in Milan.

McTominay started off looking lively as Napoli looked to land an early goal.

But it proved a false dawn with Parma the more dangerous of the two teams with Ange-Yoan Bonny twice coming close to the opener.

Tensions were running high – with Napoli boss Antonio Conte shown a yellow card for complaining too loudly about a foul on Romelu Lukaku.

Parma threatened again with a shot from Simon Sohm well saved by Napoli keeper Alex Meret.

But it was Napoli who came closest to scoring in the first half when Frank Anguissa was desperately unlucky to see his effort crash against the post after some brilliant skill.

It was still goalless at the break at the Stadio Ennio Tardini.

And when the Napoli players got back into the dressing room, they would have been GUTTED to hear Inter had just taken the lead through Yann Bisseck.

In the “as it stands” table, that was enough to lift the Milan side a point clear of their title rivals at the top.

Napoli knew they had to dig out a win and Matteo Politano came close to drawing them level early in the second half.

Gilmour then made way as part of a double change as the Neapolitans chased an equaliser.

And it almost came from McTominay whose thunderous free kick was tipped onto the bar by a stunning save from Parma keeper Zion Suzuki.

But there was better news for Napoli from Milan where former Barcelona veteran Pedro scored to draw Lazio level with Inter.

And that meant Napoli were back on top – for the time being at least.

But it wasn’t to last as the Dutch international with the Scottish name – Denzel Dumfries– struck to put Inter back again on the night – and in the table too.

Pedro then knocked home a penalty for Lazio to make it 2-2 in the San Siro.

Then came the crazy few minutes of injury time when a disallowed goal and a ruled-out penalty left it as advantage Napoli.
